Khamid Alimdjan

Khamid Alimdjan was born on December 12, 1909 in the family of a worker in Jizzakh.

In 1918 he studied at elementary school named after Narimonov in Jizzakh.

In 1923 he entered the Samarkand Pedagogical University.

In 1925 his first works were published in the wallpaper ‘‘Toshkent’’ and newspaper ‘‘Uchqun’’.

His first poems ‘‘Kimdir’’ (Somebody) was published in 1926.

Since 1926 till 1927 he was working as deputy editor of newspaper ‘‘Zarafshon’’.

In 1928 he studied at the Uzbek Pedagogical Institute.

Hamid Alimjon’s first collection of poems ‘‘Ko’klam’’ (The Spring) was published in 1929.

In 1929 he met V.V. Mayakovski in Crimea.

In 1930 he published his collection of tales ‘‘Tong shabadasi’’(Morning Breeze)

On June 1,1932 he finished the faculty of social economics at the Uzbek Pedagogical Academy.

In 1931 he worked as a responsible secretary in ‘‘Qurilish’ journal.

In 1931 he moved to Tashkent and worked as a responsible secretary in teenagers newspaper for several months.

His collection of poems ‘‘Olov sochlar’’ (Fiery hair) was published in 1931.

On the 8th of February, 1932 he was a scientific worker in the Research institute of culture construction and science.

In 1932 he published his poem ‘‘Baxtlar vodiysi’’ (Valley of Happiness).

Since June 1, 1932 till Aprel 1, 1933 he worked as a responsible secretary in ‘‘Uzbek sho’ro literature magazine’’.

In 1932 he was given the rank of History Uzbek of literature assistant professor.

In 1932 his collections of poems ‘‘Poyga’’(The race) and ‘‘O’lim yovga’’(Death to the Enemy) were published.

Hamid Alimjon translated the works of Pushkin ‘‘Kavkaz asirasi’’ and ‘‘Suv parisi’’ in 1936.

In 1936 he published his collection of poems ‘‘Daryo kechasi’’(The river’s night).

Since 1936 till 1937 he translated the novel of N.Ostrovkiy’s ‘‘Po’lat qanday toblanadi’’

On the 30th of March, 1937 he wrote his poem ‘‘O’rik gullaganda’’(When apricot blossomes).

In 1937 he published his collection of poems ‘‘She’rlar’’ (Poems).

In January, 1938 he was a manager in Uzbekistan state Pedagogical education department of publishing house and literature.

In 1938 novel ‘‘Zaynab and Omon’’ was done.

On the 27th of April , 1939 he was elected as a chairman of Writer’s Union of Republic.

In 1939 he was awarded with order “For cultural services’’.

In 1939 his collections of poems ‘‘O’lka’’(Country) and ‘‘ Oygul va Baxtiyor’’ (Oygul and Baxtiyor) were published.

In 1940 Hamid Alimjon’s collection of poems ‘‘Baxt’’ (Happiness) was published.

On the 29th of April, 1942 at Uzbek state theatre of opera and ballet the musical dramma ‘‘O’zbekiston qilichi’’ (The sword of Uzbekistan) produced in the base of his leberatte was put, and it consisted of poems, written by H.Alimjan, N.Pogodin, Uygun and Sobir Abdulla.

In 1942, he published his collections of poems ‘‘Qo’lingga qurol ol’’(Take Up A Weapon) and ‘‘Ona va o’g’il’’(Mother And Son)

On the 17th of February, 1943 he went to Central front as part of delegation.

On the 21st of August, 1943 performance ‘‘Muqanna’’ was set.

on the 4th of November, 1943 he was elected as an editor of Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.

In 1943 his collection of poems ‘‘Ishonch’’ was published.

In 1944 he wrote his final work ‘‘Jinoyat’’.

In 1944 he died tragically in a car accident.

Many institutions in Uzbekistan are named after Hamid Olimjon: the Samarkand Province Theater, the Jizzakh Pedagogical University, the street ‘‘Baliqchi’’ of Tashkent city.
